Hey guys, happy Pride Month!!
To celebrate, I wanted to share some of my favourite LGBTQ+ books that I’ve read! Feel free to recommend yours; I’d love to add them to my TBR!
Autoboyography by Christina Lauren
Love is love is love is love…. This by far is my favourite YA Contemporary queer read. While most YA LGBTQ+ books are about learning acceptance and identity, this is an eye opening read about when your family might not accept you for who you are. It’s saddenng at times, but Tanner always manages to bring a smile to your eyes
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
This is a close second. Even after all these years, I still remember how much this book has made me laugh and cry.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Such a cute and heartwarming read! I haven’t watched the movie yet, but Nick Robinson looks like the perfect Simon.
We are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson
This is quite unlike the ones I’ve recommended before. It’s YA contemporary with a sci-fi twist and focuses a lot on mental health. It’s really thought provoking and an absolute must-read.
Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron
It’s a short and quick read! I really liked the political/feminist spin that this book takes on.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
I love retellings. And because of this book, I now love love love Patroclus. I’ve read and watched a million Iliad retellings, and this will always be my favourite one.
Call Me by Your Name by André Aciman
I don’t think I’ve read a romance that has made me hurt so much. I love the connection that Elio and Oliver had and it’s really changed how I view relationships. I don’t think I’ll ever read a romance novel that is as authentic as this one.
