Covid has left me quarantined, but got me reading a few books!
The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman (Illustrated by Chris Riddell)
I really loved how Gaiman combined two fairytale and did a spinoff of them. The story is super short and can be easily finished in one sitting. Chris Riddell’s illustrations are absolutely amazing, which is the reason I enjoyed the story so much more.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
It kind of reminds me of A Monster Calls and Kafka by the Shore (interesting mix, I know). The concept felt really surreal. I enjoyed the story and the overall concept which gave a sense of escapism?
I’M IN LOVE WITH THE WORLD. Maybe I’m just having a hangover from the lack of fantasy books, but I forgot the thrill of being immersed in a world. Highly recommend, especially now that escapism is something that would benefit all of us during such a time.
