15+ Things to Do While Listening to an Audiobook

Hey guys!

I recently asked the twitter community what they did while listening to audio books, and I compiled all the answers along with some of my own. I wanted to try sectioning them out into the level of difficulty that each activity would be. (This is personal preference, so difficulties may vary). I thought this would be a nice guide to those starting off listening to audiobooks (like me!) or those who want some ideas.

Easy

  • Painting nails
  • Taking a bath/shower
  • Going on a walk
  • On the commute to work
  • Long car rides
  • Falling asleep (with a timer, of course)

Medium

  • Getting ready in the morning
  • Doing chores
  • Cleaning
  • Stretching/Yoga
  • Coloring books
  • Knitting

Hard

  • Cooking
  • Exercising
  • Driving
  • Scrolling through social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc) – @caitlinalthea

Any other ideas? Let me know down below!! I’d be happy to add them to the list 🙂

  1. I definitely have to get better at finding something to do while listening to audiobooks because half the time I actually scroll through a social media feed, get distracted, and then have to rewind the audiobook lmao! so I guess you can add scrolling through Twitter to the hard section of this because I haven’t mastered it yet 😂 I do a lot of these things while listening though, and they allow a perfect opportunity to read and work at the same time!

    1. Omg I feel you! Sometimes I end up going on Instagram and if something catches my eye, there goes 15 minutes of my audiobook xD. I’m still trying to figure out what’s best for me when listening to audiobooks. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll add scrolling through social media to my list!

  2. These are great ideas! I’ve got a little knitting project on the go atm, and it’s not something that always needs my full attention. Also, my job is quite robotic and monotonous, so I quite often listen to BBC radio programmes 😊

  3. Ahh these are great ideas! I haven’t tried out audiobooks just yet, because I’m scared of being too distracted, I’ll have to try the easy ones first on your list! thank you! 🙂

  4. Haha love that these are divided into easy, medium, and hard. Just this summer I started listening to audiobooks on my hour commute, and it was the best decision I ever made–I get so much reading done that way! I also love to paint my nails, knit, and make blog graphics while listening to audiobooks.
