June is US Audiobook Appreciation Month, and I wanted to share my experience with audiobooks.
Before last month, I used to be terrified of using audiobooks. I’m not exactly what you consider a great multitasker; I get distracted so so easily. I’ve tried listening to audiobooks in the past, and I would always fall asleep to them or forget they’re playing while I’m doing other stuff. So I ended up giving up on most of them a quarter way through.
But for some reason, last month, it just clicked. After successfully listening to Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, I was motivated to listen to more audiobooks. I was on a few road trips and travelling a lot, and I quickly went through many audiobooks.
Adding audiobooks into my daily routine has really enhanced my reading experience. It’s allowed me to read twice as many books as I usually do, and consequently motivated me to read more. Also, it satisfies my Type A ego that would cry over the lost time during commutes to school.
I just wanted to share my experience in trying out audiobooks, and would recommend others to too. I used to be very against listening to audiobooks, but now, I don’t know how I can part with my audiobook app.
What types of audiobooks do you listen to?
For the most part, I’ve enjoyed listening to self help books, since it’s like there’s someone talking to you. I feel like memoirs and autobiographies are great audiobooks, especially when the narrator is the author themselves.
I’d love to know what you guys like listening to!! Let me know down below 🙂
