Cinema Sunday #1 | Love, Rosie

Hey guys!

I discovered this meme called Cinema Sunday, a weekly meme that I’m really excited about partcipating in. Thanks Jessica @ Escape 2 Fiction for coming up with this idea!!

In the spirit of Valentine’s day I thought I’d share with you guys a movie that I recently just watched. It’s been a while since Love, Rosie first came out, but Sam Claflin and Lily Collins were still as stunning as ever. I’ve been waiting forever to be able to watch it, and after reading A Taxonomy of Love by Rachael Allen, I knew I HAD to watch it.

The movie is about Rosie (Lily Collins) and Alex (Sam Claflin) who grow up to become best friends. On Rosie’s 18th birthday, Alex soon realizes his feelings for Rosie. But as miscommunication leads to misunderstandings, and the two are led on a wild goose chase for each other, where they keep missing each other; a day too late, a continent too far away.

Of course, quite a few cliches that pop up here and there, but you can’t help but love those predictable and cheesy moments.

This was a tear jerker for me. I began crying from the getgo and found myself bawling my eyes out halfway through — not a good movie to watch on the bus. With the combination of tears of frustration and pure sadness, there were luckily moments of comic relief. Hilarious moments at the beginning of their journey come full circle to funny moments towards the end.

To say the least, the movie was an emotional rollercoaster for me. But like they say, it’s the people that make up the experience. I absolutely loved the characters and their relationships. I love seeing the pair together, and the relationship between the two feel so authentic.

Love, Rosie is a great movie to watch on Valentine’s day or whenever. And perfect for the romantics (like me!) out there.
